David R. Strother is a licensed clinical social worker and the owner and operator of Valiant Therapeutic Services, an outpatient practice that provides Intensive Outpatient Program, group and individual psychotherapy. David is the former Director of Military Services for Signature Psychiatric Hospital. He was the creator and lead clinician for the Valor Recovery Program, which is a 28 day intensive treatment program for Active Duty Military, Veterans, and First responders and also was the previous Director and Clinical lead of the S.T.A.R. program that was the precedent to Valor. David honorably served in the United States Marine Corps where he was deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring freedom. Once honorably discharging from the military he pursued a degree in Social Psychology from Park University and earned his Masters of Social Welfare from University of Kansas. David has also had a career as a fire fighter/EMT for the city of Lee’s Summit MO for 6 years. David is a trauma psychotherapist who specializes in working with PTSD and other stress and trauma related disorders and has presented to several organizations to include military, state, educational, and private sector.
David has been categorized by superiors, peers, and subordinates as hardworking, independent, and authentic. No matter what service arena, he has always put his best foot forward and been willing to advocate for those who sometimes can’t advocate for themselves. As a clinician being able to establish a rapport with your clients is an essential part of the therapeutic process. David has experienced a wide range of tragedies and successes, and as such is able to empathize with people on more than a purely academic level. He brings not only academic and professional qualities but first-hand knowledge of the trials and tribulations experienced by those called to serve.
